South Central Athlete and The B & J Bar
Owned by Bob Wilson and Mark Nagle, South Central Athlete has been a fixture downtown for many years. When it outgrew its former location on the 200 block of Main Street, it was relocated to the building known as the State Theatre or Silver Bullet building on 4th Ave across from the Paramount Theatre. The building needed extensive renovation so an entirely new front façade was created complete with functioning glass garage doors. Now having gained additional square feet, the business is thriving in its new location.
When the City of Austin took action to buy out businesses located in the floodplain, the B & J Bar needed a new home. The Main Street Project helped them relocate and renovate the exterior at the new location with South Central Athlete as neighbors. Renovations included creating a new storefront and sidewall complete with a patio. The new B & J Bar and Grill now has more space and has expanded its services to include a full menu.
